How to Feng Shui Your Desk for Career Success

11/4/2021

Feng shui your desk
Did you know that you can apply the bagua to your desk? Yep! Just like you would apply the bagua to any room in your home or to the floorplan of your entire home, you can also use it to feng shui your desk, too.

Creating a productive work environment is essential for career success. One way to do this is by practicing the ancient Chinese art of feng shui. Feng shui is the practice of arranging your surroundings in a way that creates harmony and balance. By strategically arranging your desk in accordance with the principles of feng shui, you can create an energizing and inspiring workspace that supports your career goals. In this blog post, we will discuss how you can use feng shui to create a productive desk environment that will help you achieve success in your career.

Think about this for a minute. Your career is connected to your life path. Your desk influences and symbolizes your career and so it also becomes a symbol of your life path. Makes sense, right?

Here are some easy ways for you to enhance the energy in your office by applying feng shui principles to your desk.

1. Put the desk in the command position
2. Clear off your desk. Completely declutter the top of it and clean out the drawers.
3. Put the printer and other equipment on a credenza or table behind or beside your desk so that you have room on your desk to work on the immediate tasks.
4. Place the bagua over your desk just like you would for any other room in your home, with the career area positioned where you sit at your desk.

The Areas of the Bagua on Your Desk

  • In the back left corner, which is the wealth corner, add a lush plant or a small desk-top fountain to bring in a flow or upward growth of money.
  • The left hand side of the desk is the family gua so this a great place to put a family photo. Seeing your family smiling back at you during the day keeps you feeling secure and grounded, especially when things get hectic.
  • On the lower left corner, the knowledge and spirituality gua, keep the books you're currently reading or even some research that you're working on for a project
  • You're going to be sitting in the career area of your desk. Here's a great tip to keep your career top of mind and keep you focused on your work. Write down your business goals and place them under your keyboard. You can also tape them to the underside of your desk or put them in a drawer in front of you if your desk has one.
  • The back of your desk (the part facing the door) is a great place to show off any awards or to display a picture of you on stage or being recognized for your work. This is also a really great spot for a desk lamp.
  • The back right corner is the relationship area. This is a good place to put a picture of you with your business besties.
  • What inspires you to spark your creativity? Is a piece of art? Is it a book? Even putting your stationery and pens on the right side of your desk can spark your creative flow
  • Next to you on the right lower corner of your desk, keep your phone or your list of contacts there. That way all of your helpful people and benefactors are at hand and available when you need them.

You don't need to put something in every area of your desk. You still need room to work! But think of this practice as a layering effect. You're applying the feng shui tools in your office, then you're layering that energy by applying the tools to your desk too. Before you know it, your office will be the productive hub you've been dreaming of!
