Help Kids Ace Their Exams Using Feng Shui

5/3/2021

Feng Shui Studying
In a world where academic success is becoming more and more important, finding fresh and innovative ways to help children excel in their exams has become a priority for many parents. One of the oldest yet still innovative strategies for helping kids ace their exams is to use the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui. By understanding and applying the principles of Feng Shui, parents can help create a conducive environment that encourages their children to study hard and achieve success in their exams. In this blog post, we'll look at how you can use Feng Shui to help your kids ace their exams.

It’s that time of year where students of all ages are getting ready to finish up year end school projects and study for exams. A lot of people really stress out at this time of year, whether they’re in grade 9 or completing a PhD. Enhancing the Knowledge and Spirituality area of the bagua works not just for exams and studying but also for things such try-outs, auditions, or even submitting book proposals. For example, my son is now a professional ballet dancer. When he was finishing high school, of course he wanted to do well on his final high school exams, but he was more concerned about doing really well on his auditions for post-secondary training. So we made sure he was prepared, physically, mentally and environmentally.

Knowledge and Spirituality Area

The Knowledge and Spirituality area of your home is associated with reflection, meditation, inner guidance, learning and studying. The energy in this area is about cultivating an intelligent mind, both academically and spiritually.  When you’re trying to help your kids achieve something academically, ideally you’d be able to set up a study space in the NE corner of your home. In that area you will want a solid desk or table to work at, textbooks and other study materials, school supplies and a computer, laptop or tablet.  However, it may not always be possible or practical to set things up in that area of the home because your Knowledge area may end up being in a kitchen or bathroom or even a garage. An alternative option is to choose the NE area of your child’s bedroom to set up their knowledge area.
Below are some tips on how to give your kids the motivation, clarity and memory skills to ace those final exams and achieve academic and career goals, no matter what area of the home your knowledge area is.

  • Always place the desk in the command position so the child is facing the door.
  • Display motivational quotes and  photos of any mentors
  • The knowledge area is represented by the earth element which is solid, grounding and stable. Art or photos of mountains as well as colours of mountains such as greens and earth tones as well as blue and black (water colours)
  • If your child is heading to university or is in university already, display an object or picture that represents their major and/or career goals (when my son was getting ready for his auditions, he had a picture of himself from when he trained in Europe for a summer right on his desk)
  • Create a fame and recognition wall with symbols of personal academic success, such as awards, diplomas, letters of recommendation, trophies, photos from performances, or some of their prized artwork
  • Leave a light on in this area to fire up your intelligence (fire creates earth), keep on until bedtime
  • Write out and display personal affirmations of success, things that really resonate with your child
  • Students should use red folders, notebooks and binders when going to school. This is to support motivation, taking action and attract good luck (red is a very auspicious colour in feng shui)
  • Place crystal point on NE corner of the desk or in NE corner of the room
  • If your child has big aspirations and  wants to be known globally for their work, display crystal globe in NE area and give it spin every so often to get the world’s attention

7-tiered Pagoda

Another really popular feng shui item for education excellence is the 7-tiered pagoda, also known as the “education tower”. It is believed to:
  • Create energy and revitalize the beholder
  • Improve grades and studying
  • Enhance competence and clarity
  • Translate negative energy in the area into good chi, carrying with it fame, academic luck and the capability to move forward in your field of work

Place it beside the bed or on the desk to help improve concentration and mental capabilities, allowing for better memory and accomplishment on exams
Our lives don't happen in silos so when you’re trying to achieve a goal with the help of feng shui, it’s often helpful to enhance other areas of your home at the same time. To deepen knowledge and learning, do some work activating the helpful people area of your home to get support from teachers, mentors and friends. To enhance career aspirations, enhance the career area and fame area, which will help you prepare to be recognized in your field.
